The relationship between music and hypnosis...

I'm going to tell you all a secret... that may shock and astound you....
Many, many, many, many (probably more than that many many’s) years ago, I was actually a musician. Very specifically, I was a singer/songwriter. To those of you who absolutely inflate my ego by praising my work so highly, I'm quite certain it's my stint in music that has made the content of my hypnosis production so good.
I have a good 15 years under my belt writing lyrics and poetry. And the art of actually singing taught me a lot about pacing, breathing, tone delivery, and creating an impact through sound. I’ve never treated writing and producing hypnosis sessions any differently. I think regardless of the lack of singing, both topics are rooted in auditory experience, and I have really enjoyed the full-circle moment these two aspects of my life have had.
As many of you already know, I am mildly a geek… and quite proud of the fact. So beyond enjoying music, I have really invested myself into learning about the psychological and neurological impact sound has. What fascinated me most is how the right rhythm, the right texture, can gently guide the mind toward calmer, more open states. Music doesn’t just sit in the background of hypnosis — it shapes the experience, softens resistance, and creates the emotional space where trance can actually take root.
When I first started producing hypnosis sessions, I was using clips from Pixabay and remixing them somewhat with the limited tools and skills I had at my disposal. I never wanted to use sounds that were stereotypical (though I’ve definitely had my phases). I wanted sounds that genuinely had a psychological impact on my clients and those who enjoy my work… which is a tough order to fill when you have zero production skills.
As I said, in one lifetime I was a musician. I’ve played in bars, clubs, living rooms, garages, parks, and very obscurely placed and random studios. Which brings me to the next part of my story....
This is where I met Brad.
One of the best things about the UK music scene is the friends you make. I met Brad thanks to an amazingly talented guitarist I befriended named Phil. I was invited to a jam at Brad’s studio, and we’ve pretty much been friends for the last decade or so. I’ve been very lucky to work on some great projects with him.
I think in our lifetimes we all encounter innovators. In my experience it’s rare, but Brad is one of these people. Not only is he incredibly musically talented, he’s able to take music production to a completely different level and create sounds that are innovative and really tickle the brain.
It felt like a very obvious choice to go to Brad for help with my hypnosis productions. To be blunt, I’m crazy, and I think he is a little too (in the best way possible). If I had gone to any other music production company and asked for what I was asking, something different, I don’t think anyone would have been up for it, and if they had… I don’t believe the results would have been the same at all.
You could argue that years of friendship made the process of working together so easy, but honestly, credit where credit is due: Brad is just a very talented producer. I believe with my full chest that I could ask him to create a piece that made me feel like floating in perfume in a man’s bowler hat, and he would be able to do it — probably better than I envisioned.
It makes me so happy that I was able to work with an old friend in this way, especially within the subjects of music and hypnosis, two of my greatest loves. (My other two great loves are art and food.) And I know so many of you have enjoyed the results.
With all this said… if you are in need of music production, you can reach Brad here: https://www.facebook.com/share/1CGBgFFLAe/
And a massive thank you again to Brad at Studio L4W. I’m obviously very excited for our next projects.
