Embracing Fashion in the Fetish Scene: A Personal Journey

The Allure of Aesthetic Delights
It should come as no surprise that I am quite partial to an outfit... It's one of the many perks of the fetish scene. Do we make your toes curl sometimes? (In agony or delight... whatever tickles your fancy...) Absolutely. But we will probably look good doing it.
I hate to reduce myself to aesthetic delights, but honestly, I believe fashion is what initially attracted me to this scene. As a teenager and even as a young child, I was always drawn to dark fashion. There’s just something about it that ignites a fire in my soul. I remember my first leather trench coat and leather trousers. I was roughly 10 or 11, and looking back, I think it probably cost my mother a small fortune. (I always tell my parents, "See... there were signs I would be this way... 100% not a phase, Mum...").
Discovering Vintage Fashion
Later in life, at the ripe age of 14 or 15, I discovered vintage fashion. Most notably, vintage lingerie, where I stumbled upon corsets, basques, garters, waspies, fishnets, and stockings. I still recall buying my first pair of hold-ups. Firstly, we’ve established I grew up with very open-minded parents. Secondly, they were eBay's finest and itched like hell. I always wanted the weird-looking dolls and adored villains in media. It’s been a long and romantic relationship with the darker side of fashion.
My First Love: PVC
Going into the fetish world, I want to tell you that my first love was latex, but no... I was much too economically deprived to engage in such delights. So, it was actually PVC. I still have a soft spot for it, though I must admit I’ve become a bit snobby about it these days.
There have been times I veered away from the fetish scene for one reason or another. But I always come back to it. The older I get, the more I realise that the level at which I wish to engage is lifestyle-based. It isn’t enough for me to do this occasionally; I’ve made it my life. I find comfort in these spaces, even without the kink. It’s where I’m happiest.
Everyday Fashion Choices
It's unfortunately not feasible to wear latex every day... well, for me at least. Writing that, my mind goes to a dear friend known as Latexa, the he/she latex phenomenon. (Latexa, if you are reading this... no matter how submissive you are, I bow down to your commitment to latex; it’s quite remarkable).
So, I’m always on the hunt for more everyday items of clothing... Things that give a nod to my passions. I love the saying, "If you know, you know." I enjoy the sensation of going about my business, knowing my clothing whispers naughty little secrets to those who can identify what they are seeing.
The Quest for Fashionable Fetish Wear
One of the most frequent questions I get is, "Where did you buy your outfit?" I totally understand the interest. Not to toot my own horn, but I do have excellent taste. My secret? I’m very good at finding fetish-leaning fashion from high street brands. It’s a gift and a curse, really. A gift because, dammit, I look amazing... But a curse for my wardrobe space. I’m fast running out of room for boots. (That’s a lie... there’s always room for more boots).
My Go-To Stores
My favourite stores for dominant, high street fashion are M&S (I know, I’m as shocked as you are), Next, Debenhams, and more recently, La Redoute, along with vintage and second-hand pieces.
My favourite materials? Leather, leather look, PVC (yes... that love will probably never truly die), silk, satin, and (what you see me in much less) velvet. I am fond of luxury looks, even if they aren’t genuinely luxury. It’s just where my taste veers within dominant fashion. It’s that very particular subsection of femdom that I adore. (Don’t you know, ladies can whip harder? It’s all those equestrian lessons).
Both M&S and Next stock my favourite label, Sosandar. Most of my leather skirts and at least a few pairs of trousers are from this brand. I enjoy the mix of real leather, leather look, and PVC items. They truly capture my love of luxury looks. You can buy a leather dress from Sosandar, and most people would see a well-dressed woman, with just enough edge to say to some, "In the right environment, I might spit on the floor and make you lick it up..."
The Role of Clothing in Identity
I really don’t believe you have to wear leather or similar to be a Domme. Not at all. I have many friends and colleagues who don’t partake. It doesn’t make them less dominant. They have their own ways of stepping into that role. For me, though, clothing is very much a part of my fetish. Not in a uniform-type way (though I am very partial to uniforms), but as an integrated part of my identity. It’s important for me to feel this way as much as possible. (Not every day, mind you; I’m human and enjoy my pyjamas, baggy band t-shirts, and joggers too). Wearing these items brings me joy.
At the risk of potentially ruining the reputation of some of these companies, I genuinely wonder if they know kinksters will be interested in these clothing items... Or if it would be a shock. Do they sit in a boardroom and discuss a new leather coat? "Yes, sales will be through the roof... we have 5000 Dommes lining up around the corner for a coat that sexy..."
