Observe

You look.

You recognize.

You conclude.

Entire experiences are completed in the time it takes to decide what they are.

I’ve become curious about what happens when that final step is postponed.

Not abandoned.

Simply delayed.

Held open... just a little longer than feels natural.

There is a physical discomfort in remaining with an experience after recognition has already taken place. The skin grows restless. The mind begins searching for permission to leave.

Not because anything painful has occurred.

But because certainty has convinced you that nothing further can happen.

We use certainty to shield ourselves from the negative space. We name the room, we categorize the objects, we label the body-we seal every crack so that we do not have to feel the absolute permeability of our existence.

But when you stop moving, the shields fail.

How quickly does the empty space begin to press?

How quickly does the waiting stop being a delay, and become the entire experience?

These are not questions to be answered. They are boundaries to be reached.

The work does not happen in the words.

It happens in the negative space when the voice is no longer protecting you.

Remain there.
